What does the law say about the signs and signals?
Work Environment Authority on signs and signals AFS 2008: 13 are rules governing signs, markings and signals regarding health and safety in locations where work is performed.
Employers shall ensure that appropriate signs, markings and signals are introduced into the business.
Permanent signs shall be used for prohibition, warning and mandatory requirements as well as to clearly mark evacuation routes and first aid equipment. Permanent marking with signs, tape or paint will be used to show the location and type of fire equipment.
Signs and warning devices shall be maintained, checked, repaired and cleaned so that they retain their function and quality.
